I'm sure it was mentioned on here somewhere but I must have missed it, what is happening with the Ritz? Last I heard it was going to be redeveloped as apartments which would have been a crying shame. Do I take it the Ritz has been saved?
Well at the moment the Ritz is safe and a group of volunteers are working hard to build local business for it. However, Cornwall Council is trying to push for a demolition even though as far as I know no formal inspection has been completed on the building and therefore nobody could determine the structural condition of it.
I spoke with tttom (a member on here) who is one of the hard working volunteers who told me that he and fellow workmen have looked over and worked on the building and consider it a good overall structure.
Personally I think Cornwall Council would have to do a shed load of PR to justify knocking down a perfectly good building for a car park or flats.... This is not the 60's and I'm confident that the people of Penzance won't stand for it any longer.
