Visiting hours at the Bolitho Maternity Home - 29July,'78

I was visiting my first-born. Al three offspring can at least say they were actually born in Penzance, and only a matter of a hundred yards or so from the sea!
I've not heard of that pension or of Sir William Matthews. Can you enlarge on that. My three children might be interested, they having been born in the Bolitho.

I expect a small commission on any monies that might be gained from this information.----- The Mathews pension was given out at St.John’s Hall until the nineteen nineties for “poor and deserving persons of good character who shall be natives of, and residing in the Borough of Penzance”

Little did I realise that putting up this fairly modest picture of the then Bolitho Maternity Home that it would be so well visited! Thank you everyone! Do take a look at my ongoing Trengwainton Gardens collection, please! I know of someone who was 'born under a gooseberry bush there' as people used to say when I was a nipper, but it wasn't me that was born like that!
