1827 Water Shoot

I won't even give a clue on this one, as I am sure that everyone has seen it. The best kept shoot in town.
Edgar Rees tells us in his book on Penzance that in 1841 a lady was fined 6 shilling and sixpence for washing items of clothing under this pipe. Another woman was fined for cleaning fish in another public waterway.

Edgar Rees is a man for whom I have great respect. The fact of washing fish in drinking and washing water was a driving force in creating the new Fish Market.

She probably had a gut feeling about it all and was just off home to her own plaice.

Well - all this space - you gotta fillet with something ... Do you remember Hank Marvin, The Shadows and the Theme from Filletted Plaice? Oh what a lovely tune was the B side. Oh dear, sorry about that, oh well never mind .... absolute classic.
