If you ve ever seen any raw footage from any of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you ll have seen how dull the colours were. Thanks to post production, the colours came alive and became somewhat magical - and that is half the appeal of those films for me. The colours in the film Hero are outstanding as well.
A truly remarkable film is The City of Lost Children, the detail and colours, let alone the story, scenario and performances; but that was to be bettered in Vidocq. There the scenes, actors, animals ... everything (including Gerard Depardieu) were digitised. The detail and the colour are totally mind blowing. It was the first ever fully digitised film, and it set the standards for the rest of the world.
