Memory from childhood ... blizzard of 1947, nothing like it since, it was common knowledge to leave the snow where it lay, as clearing led to icing, salting led to melting and then to icing. Undisturbed snow gave the best foot purchase, with less traffic and less urgency and less hse panic, we just got on with it. First thing as to cars was a set of chain tyres. I believe it was still the same in the 1984/5 winter of 'discontent' with the miners strike. We just got on with it.
Luckily we do not have to use these steps tt13, I did have to go up once to get the Christmas tree down which you can just see at the top of the steps.
The chickens are coping, just. Their water keeps icing up even with a ball in it. They are spending a lot of time under the covered run but will venture out for warm mash and corn.
