Knew him first when he worked in Edgar Symonds, in the hairdressers, Causewayhead; Charlie Symonds was a tall, thin man with an enormous sense of humour. He had a Lord Kitchener moustache, which he delighted in stroking and shaping in the best Poirot fashion, but I will never forget his continuous prank playing and snappy lines. One thing I remember particularly was the lamp shade, it, like many in those times, was made of a vitrolite, a type of cast class, which he enjoyed tapping with his steel comb, making a ringing sound, followed by the sounds and calls of an electric 'street car'.
There was also his son, darkie and one other who's name
I cant seem to recall whom I believe went to Canada.
Charlie was a jovial sort and a good sport........
