Lifeboat c1935

This is a photograph taken by Captain George Pender.
It shows the 'Cunard', lifeboat of St Mary's.
She was provided by Cunard Steamship Co Ltd.
1930-1953; 45.5 x 12.5 feet; 8 crew; 19 tons; ON728; built by Saunders-Rowe at Cowes.
His wife Edith had used this picture as a postcard to her sister-in-law, Winifred,
who had moved to St Henry Street in Penzance. Postmarked 3rd July 1939.
Which is all rather ironic, since one of the people on board was the Duke of Windsor,
and the postage stamp shows King George VI,
the unwell brother of the man who gave up a throne for his love of a woman.
