I can remember that fire I was nine years old at the time and i was heart broken as they had a monkey and a parrot in cages in the back of the store and they perished in the fire.
Yes, I remember that too - it was very upsetting (especially being a kid as well at the time) thinking about them trapped in cages as the place went up in flames ....
i was working for parkers at the time of the fire it was caused by an electical fault my little mini pick up took hundreds of loads to the warehouse near the railway station markett jew street was closed for days
iwas working for parkers at the time, i was in the paint department.some of the other staffmembers were,dick harris ,ray nethercott,george charlton,bill madron,just to name a few.
