Does anyone know the source of the table? It had only arrived at The Mount c1975, although dated 1615-1625. The chairs made 1800, modelled on the original design. There is however one older chair, the 'Glastonbury Chair'.
I think you'll find a lot of artifacts have done the rounds for the N.T. This oak table is early seventeenth century. The chair at the near end of the table is an eighteenth century reproduction of the original Glastonbury chair which is now at the Bishop's Palace at Wells. The remaining chairs are further copies made by the estate carpenter in about 1800. This is what my blue leaflet says.
