Isis - Hayle lifeboat worked her last rescue, saving four crew members, but with the loss of seven oars and two lifeboat crews exhausted. Five other crew had been rescued by breeches-buoy; the crew pitched on the beach for the night, only to later the next day watch the SS Excelsior be stranded a matter of yards from their brigantine.
