WW2 pill box, St michaels mount. Lefthand side

First time that I have seen a set of pictures of these pill boxes ... is it a specific interest of yours, how much of Cornwall have you covered ? Have you researched any histories of them?

yeh im a real fan, just love the history behind it all, plus the history of if they did invade. No i have not covered much, only started with what you see. Will cover as much as pos. Do you have a intrest?,

I have often come across them on cliff walks and wondered what specifically was the history and the specific reason for each, who manned them and with what to defend our Green and Pleasant Land. I have only researched the history of the Wars as they affect ships of the area and in the area. I am sure the MOD and IWM will be willing to help you. I think the classic story is of a German contingent being shown around the Bay, taking photographs, within a few months they were using those pictures.

yeh ive read about that story too. would be interesting to see the pics....im into what would of happend if the germans had invaded, what are plans were? where our last stand would of been. I know we had a top secret army, armed with the latest and best weapons ready to go literally under ground at a moments notice.

There was not a chance of invasion with all of our weapons in play, and they were not all the ones that killed and maimed, we had wit and wisdom on our side, bluff and intelligence, and the English Channel, let alone the stalwart (and brave to the last) British. But yes, there were contingency plans.
