James said that he was about to crack the free range egg, which he bought from a local caterers, to make a fry-up when he noticed that it did not have the normal oval shape.
He said: "I pulled out a tray and noticed this spherical egg.
"I stood for a few moments in awe because I had never seen anything like it.
After showing others in the kitchen at the Hotel who were equally amazed, he put the two-and-a-half inch egg in a special protective case.
James, said he now plans to keep his special egg.
