Heavy snowfall is disrupting travel and closing schools in the west of Cornwall.
More than 4in (10cm) of snow has been reported in some areas. More heavy snow showers were expected in the west of the county later, the Met Office said.
Gritters and snow ploughs have been out since midnight and more resources are being brought in, highways bosses said.
More than 25 schools have closed. Snow has also affected the Isles of Scilly.
Paul Allen, from Cornwall Highways, said: "We've got quite heavy snowfall around Newquay, Perranporth, along the north coast and westwards from Newquay.
"It's also over higher ground and down around Helston and Penryn.
"We've had three or four inches reported and gritters have been out from 1am."
Driving conditions are hazardous on the Penzance Road at Penzance, the BBC travel website says.
Cornwall Council has produced a list of affected schools.
Met Office forecasters are predicting some heavy snow showers west of Camborne later on Thursday.
