Tea Treat for Bojewyan Methodist Sunday School
The Parade coming down Ponds Hill with Pendeen Silver Band
I don't know of any in Penwith any longer. You need to find someone with current local knowledge. there is a delightful video of Tregeseal Tea Treat 1992 on youtube by Chris Hatch featuring Pendeen Silver. I know that in the Warrington area they have "Walking Days" when each parish has a parade, unfortunately when i worked in Warrington town centre in the 1990s these seemed to involve most business shuttering up early in the day to avoid drunken yobbery. I believe there is more widely in the North West of England a tradition of Whit Walks. these certainly involve parades but I'm not sure they are like Tea Treats as we knew them. Tea treats like ours seem to have been a feature of areas with strong non-conformist or specifically Methodist communities. There is plenty of material about these around online if someone wanted to research. Perhaps another to add to my list of retirement projects. I'd love to hear of any continuing traditions.
