A giant swallowtail butterfly..first I've
seen in my yard, its wings were beating extremely fast going from bloom to bloom and had a span of about 6 inches. Beautiful creature...

It certainly is beautiful! I haven't seen many butterflies in our garden this year - apart from the occasional Cabbage White. Though this could be due to our cats who seem to consider anything that flutters to be 'fair game'. I do love them (the cats) but they can be b*ggers at times ...
