A male pheasant

I took this photograph on Easter Sunday, 2009, in the gardens of Godolphin House. He was more obliging than most pheasants when approached with a camera!
I believe pheasants were brought over from France (maybe after the Norman Conquest?) specially to be hunted but, to my mind at least, they are too beautiful to be hunted but too tasty not to be tasted! I m afraid I am a bit ambivalent here in my views!

To assist you with your ambivalence, I invite you in the Autumn, to a pleasant pheasant dinner laugh#
