The white band is the edge of a massive bank of low cloud, stretching some 210 degrees (of my view) in a circle as it approaches Penzance. The far east edge was beyond Lizard Point. The bank eased across from the North, following a High Pressure zone, eventually covering Mount's Bay like some vast alien ship.
