There is something remarkably reassuring about the presence of a robin in the garden; they are incredibly knowing and yet, despite their quiet and apparently peaceful oneness with the garden and the gardener, as a symbiosis, if you like, they have a tenacious sense of territory and will fight vigorously to protect their domain, if pushed. For some unknown reason, there are three robins that visit my garden, and even if two arrive at the same time, they seem to allow each other to stay without challenge. Lovely little bird.
aawww..A lovely picture I m surprised you got this close...and it stayed put! or did you zoom in on this beautiful bird, I have always admired this little bird
It s the cock robins that will almost defend their territory to the death. Usually though after a standoff one will back down and fly off. I have however witnessed a quick scuffle with a loss of the odd feather before one backed off. Great picture. ::6:
