The answer is that there are species here that are not found in Cornwall, and some not found in Britain. Botany is not one of my fields, but I have a few books here and some old Field Notes as well as a Botanical Survey of Cornwall, simply because I often want to know what such and such a plant actually is. I had a real interest in lichens and the like so I could understand what was happening to stone walls and buildings. Scilly has so many other tropical plants - so often they are on sale, but they simply do not grow on the mainland, so unless a hothouse is good and ready, leave them on the islands.
