Alexandra's Lions

This granite base, drinking fountain and lamp once stood at the bottom of Alexandra Road, when the road was opened and named by Princess Alexandra 24th July 1865; the road was actually named The Alexandra Road . The base was moved to assist in traffic flow, the drinking fountain has disappeared, as has the lamp. These wonderful lion leaves are all that remain on the inscribed base.
