Alverton Cherry - 1

Superb. Gives totally edible fruit, too, when the buds and flowers haven t been blown off by strong winds. Don t get that with ornamental trees.
Amazes me when people park right underneath, though, when they ve got the whole car park to park in. ::15: It looks on the verge of toppling.

@treeve, cast your eyes over the pavement next time you go past. I m sure the crack in the tarmac has got bigger. Looks ominous. Wouldn t like to be the car owner who s parked underneath when the tree eventually topples.

Critical time is when it fruits. The roots have extended further down and across, as is normal with old fruit trees, they work out just how much grab that the need to form the foot bole of soil; it rather depends on the amount of water under the road, and the winds whilst it is in fruit. I am certain the pavement and edging has opened. It would be so somple for the owner of the land to create a supporting cradle, lined with a layer of felt or leather. If only to protect the clientele. ::15:
By the way, the Planning Application for the back of Tredarvah Farm has been dropped. ::6:
