Dating of Crosses is an elaborate subject, they date between 600 AD and 900 AD, some clues may be offered by design or motif as the a more specific date, many designs point to the origins of the people who made it and set it up. This is a very early cross.
I read that this cross has been moved a bit in recent years. It must have been since about 1983 as I have a picture of my middle son tiddling next to it as a toddler and it was definitely at a different angle. Nice pics here, BoP, but I wouldn t like to cross you!
There is a book of antiquity that describes all of the Cornish Crosses, which I have been attempting to get for years. I referred to a private copy 10 years ago concerning North Cornwall crosses.
