Camellia

These flourish in Cornwall in general but particularly well in the churchyard at Gulval. You may be able to tell me more correctly which one this is but my best shot is the Camellia Francie L or Camellia 'Doctor Clifford Parks' as a result of googling a few images. The lCamellia Doctor Clifford Parks is a vigorous hybrid with an upright habit and large flowers. It was raised by its namesake in North Carolina in the 1960s and is listed by several UK nurseries
It looks like a reticulata Houye Diechi, but just a guess at this distance! duh

Thanks for the suggestion! I have found Camellia ‘Francie L’ which is compared with your reticulata Houye Diechi, stating that it was one of the first hybrids derived from newly-imported C. reticulata cultivars and It retains the large flowers of C. reticulata and its hardiness makes it a good choice for UK gardens. It certainly looks like this one from the pic I saw but your suggestion led me to it, pzpirate! Another very likely choice is the Camellia Doctor Clifford Parks as I have now mentioned above.
