Carbis Bay

To show just how much has changed over the years, a postcard to Winnie Pender in 1907
Ah ... Carbis Bay. We were taken there a lot as kids - I remember there were a couple of narrow caves in the cliff where water would come out, draining off the land above. My brother and I would spend hours digging channels and building dams trying to stem the flow. Then when the tide started to come in, we'd move off to the water's edge and build dams there - until we were engulfed and had to beat a hasty retreat! Excellent fun.

The postcard was to my Grandmother, before she was married, this whole scene was extraordinary, I feel, as adults and youngsters alike, are quite 'proper', besides the lack of present day detritus. Barepta Cove has changed, I remember caves, as you have mentioned, as well as building 'watercourses'. :)

The postcard was from Grace Trembath, pictured in this album, she lived in Ludgvan.
