Standing on Carnsew Quay.
The long low wall on the other side was between the channel and the shipbuilding yard. It helped to ensure the channel was kept clear. The rubble fill has collected over the last 100 years and covers all manner of artefacts.
To my memory the last large building here was the Slade steelworks, demolished around 1990?
