The brook as it exits from under the road and Chyandour. The original area was one deep sandy cove, with a road bridge, roughly where the horse trough now is sited. The bridge was arched with side walls. It was a double bridge, with an island in the centre of the cove. The square is comparatively modern. There were houses on the place where the railway line now runs, as the cliff was cut back to allow for the railway.
