That was back in the days when the word service meant just that. A driver and a conductor, and no wild parties or drunken behaviour was tolerated, off the bus, end of story, for most of the conductors were quite burly and strong voiced. Not that the problem came up much, but when it did, ready for action. Now we need a county grant to keep them going, with one driver/conductor. Respect was also a good word, not some NY hiphop import.
In the early '50s the duty roster had sixty drivers and sixty conductors plus inspectors and
other staff....thats when Penzance had a bus service !! today it seems everyone has thier own
transportation.....
