Queens Street

The first house on the right was lived in by the Chinn family. Next one down, I can t remember who lived there! Next to that was No 9 where my uncle Edgar, Aunty Betty and cousins Ron (Jigger) Mickey and Eddy lived, Uncle was a taxi driver. We lived in No 10, there was Dad, George James, Mum, Maud, brother Ivan, Sister, Christine and me, Dennis. My dad was a part time taxi driver in the firm he helped start - James s Taxis, he also worked for the firm across the road, Dennis and Sons as a Painter and Decorator. Happy Days!!

I used to live there number 37 and we onned 31 after my aunty died now were in New Zealand

When I met my wife to be - she lived in Nr25 at the bottom, next to Mr Tresidder s house (originally a school). I see Dennis the builder s name .. fine contractors, and their joinery shop was a close second to Regent Joiners; class work and class service from gentlemen.

A closer look reveals that the old Association Chapel stood then (used as part of The Salvation Army property) - the chapel was used by the Wesleyans before the new one was built in Chapel Street. The Association Chapel has now been demolished and re-built as a plain stone building.
