The loss of this quality eating establishement after so many years will make an incredible difference to the clientele of so many fine restaurants in Penzance.
That's a shame really, it's been there for as long as I can remember so a bit of a local landmark. Another bit of old Penzance gone. I bet this was 'the place to go' when it first opened.
Perhaps McDonald's will buy the site and move into town. That's one thing that's missing from Market Jew Street - the golden arch sign. NOT!
Me, I prefer a home made burger made from minced beef from a well known local butcher ....
When it first opened it was a magnet, it was always full and a hive of activity. This was, as far as I am aware, before the advent of the Mac - I also remember the quality of food and service was immaculate for a snack bar. It was The Buzz for young people (which included myself then). Quality fell off dramatically in later times, having tried it, for old times sake. It is not the same at all, was my thought.
Wimpy have been closing down for years now. The St Ives branch vanished some years back and Penzance has been limping on for a while.
I note the title Burgered off and thought that was very apt!
Mostly because I've just been given confirmation that Burger King is taking the site over!!
Yippee! at long last Penzance is catching up with the rest of the world
