I m listening to Laurence Reed talking about the need to recycle, then I see this it s so easy to separate you glass, cans,papers etc from your household rubbish. Fortunately we have wheelie bins for everything. Our rubbish bin is half the size of the others, and we don t even half fill it.

Takes me six/eight weeks to fill mine.

Good on you, do you not put your bin out every week, just leaving it til it s full?

Two fold advantage is that a) I do not have to struggle with the bin (arthritis and slipped discs) each week and b) the bin men don t have to collect it until it is full, and I do not have to go out in the rain and fetch the thing. I don t have to worry either about it being blown away in the wind, as they do on occasion.

We found that nearly al our rubbish came from the supermarket. Nearly everything is wrapped more than and in a tray, placed in a small bag and then in the carrier bag. Since we shop local now (with the exception of some things) our bin is hardly full. And for a family of four that s quite something.
