Nancealverne Lodge.

I lived here approx 1978 to 1985 when I moved in there was no by-pass or roundabout, horses from the riding school used to browse where the by-pass now is, occassionally they used to jump into our back garden.
The old GPO van, bought it 'cause it had three seats, me the missus and Aaron on the centre seat on the engine, just after, we found that Sammy was on the way. ::11:

I found a Dodge :)

Yeah, your not wrong there. This was one of the best you could get. Ground breaking style for the day, in fact still stylish. Dodge would still be around if it wasn't for the Transit. The Transit was simply so versatile that less forward thinking companies were left behind, Telecom were synonymous with Dodge, almost part of the corporate image.
Would I have one of these today?.... You bet!!

If I remember correctly the little air grill in the front would rust out and the water use to come in through that vent. I think it had an air flap fitted to it so that you could control the air flow coming in to the cab.
Also (a big mistake) was the fact that they had exposed door hinges on the back doors that also rusted out.

The roof was reinforced, which also meant the van interior was very sturdy, GPO did this as a matterof course for all their vans at that time.
The only main problem really was the cover over the engine in the centre of the cab, this also doubled as a seat, but if the seals had started to go it got a bit smelly, and draughty, until you resealed it. I think I have another photo side on, but the shot was taken of aaron, I'll see if I can find it.
