Rix Harrier

More detail of how it's done.
Fascinating ... I am interested in the structural side of things in relation to the double hull requirement. I am not asking you, by the way. Just wondering how the stress skin works, if it is one which is attached to the inner hull, and what happens if the inner hull fails? Something to keep my grey cells buzzing.

I m not in for a few days but I will try and find out for you. The gentleman in charge of the workforce which is mainly Polish, would probebly be able to tell me, he is very knowlegable, mind you he has to be!!

Treeve will probably throw more light on the subject, but to my knowledge the idea of the second skin is to minimize the problem of contamination in the event of an accident. If other liquids were carried in the void it would defeat the object.

Not a chance ... this the idea of a double hull, to stop such spillages as we have had and the pollution that follows. This was something the shipowners themselves have been wanting since 1891. Now, if the ship does not have a double hull it cannot carry the liquid.

Horses for courses. It would be a strange world if we all knew the same and did the same. I know nothing of football (either one) or cars or mortgages, or investments ..etc ... ..
