The Portmeirion of Penzance? - a little known corner of Penzance [Abbey Place?] at the bottom of New Street. My wife and I lived in a winter let behind the square arch in the background where there are a couple of cottages. We spent one winter there in Rosemary Cottage in the late 70s.
Abbey Hotel was purchased in 1957 by H Dalton Clifford (architect); Abbey Place and Abbey Cottages have been repaired and re-built in the fashion of Portmeirion; windows were saved from the demolition of Chirgwins and used here, amongst other gems. Sir John Betjeman approved greatly.
