Benjamin Batten’s House (centre) became The West Cornwall Girl’s School and continued until around 1905; The National School was adapted to the Boy’s School in 1875. The tower is of The First National School of 1834, it was built on land originally owned by Richard Oxnam, merchant and banker, he owned the land right from Chapel Street down to the water s edge, before Coulson s Granary was built.
