I once knew who this artist was but have forgotten. The religious sisters who founded and managed St Mary’s Haven commissioned this work and also asked me to supply the Cornish engraved at the base of the frame – God bless Cornwall forever! The artist was a master of working and texturising foil with special implements. This was his speciality. One sees this sort of work in miniature on Christmas cards and suchlike, usually produced by machines however. This was hand-wrought.
