Families take advantage of a fine August day (17/08/09) by paddling where the stream meets the sea to crate a natural paddling pool. I hope there is not too much cattle 'effluent' therein! I bathed in the sea myself today and a choppy sea made it a bracing occasion.
Thanks for these, tpp, lovely pictures. I have many happy childhood memories of Portheras, although it was a bit of a scramble getting down there with all the beaching gear. Much easier nowadays after the Torrey Canyon when the Royal Marines create the clifftop track across from the top of Boat Cove.
Many of the young men of Pendeen would congregate on those rocks, (to the right of the stream as you enter the beach from the Bojewyan direction), on summer Sunday afternoons. The maids and the families would be spread out along the beach. I expect we looked a picture posing and preening up there.
