St John's Ambulance Headquarters Penzance

Considering this building represents a thousand years of care to the injured, with origins in The Knights of St John, and the care given during wars over the centuries, I know nothing of this building. It appears to be about 1938, but please can anyone add any information? Do you have any background, connection, or stories?
Hi Treeve, My cousin Charlie Symons was and still is involved with St.Johns and has been for longer than I can remember, if you like I can PM his Home phone or e-mail to you. He s spent more hours there than you can throw a stick at. He was a carpenter and joiner and maybe able to shed some light on the building for you.

Thank you very much ... the email address would be very helpful; I see that they are attempting to clean off that rather expressive pediment.

Can t help with the history, sorry. I often went with my parents to shop in Pz and we would park our motor-bike and sidecar in the little covered motor-cycle park, as it was then, adjacent to this building. Sometimes we would see an ambulance being polished. This is one of a wealth of fine deco and modernist buildings in the Mount s Bay area. And this one has a lovely smile too!
