Chapel Street - 95

Nr 63 Chapel Street
19th August 2008
Before being re-decorated.
Very much a 'wedding cake' design, like Stewart's Buildings.
So it was .. When the album has been completed, I will be going through them in sections, adding histerical notes up until c1920.

I remember that I used to get all my darkroom materials there. At that time I had a King Regulette, smart little camera.

Ditto I myself got a lot there he always had a good erray of chemicals etc, camera s I used back then were Rollie s gave them up for the mamiyaflex worst trade I ever made !!

Started with a Dacora Digna camera, German make, very much the shape and hold of a 35mm camera, but the lens tube extended from within the camera body and folded away by a simple push. Used 120 film two and a quarter square format. Now I look around 120 film is still available, after all the hype about digital rules and film material was dead. Not the case at all. One day I will get a Hasselblad, I gather they take pictures of around 2Gb each. That is detail!!

I agree its a nice outfit very expensive, I had several includind 5x4 arial and one I used for special was a very old Thornton-pickard
4.5x6.75 with rise and fall back and front with a modern lens board it even had a wooden tripod...today we have digital with it auto everything takes the guess work away whether to over and under or under and over with the film speed...

At £6,000 or whatever, way beyond my budget, I am happy with my Fuji FinePix S9500, though I have an S8100fd for occasional use. For me it is all about weight on my wrists. The Nikon F2 with 300mm lens or 500mm catadioptric is simply too heavy. So it stays in the cupboard.
Just had a look - the next one that appeals is the Fuji FinePix S100fs, come down from 500 to 320, full manual zoom 13 element lens. May be able to get that after holidays.
