Marazion's Puzzle
The Town Hall/Information Building.

Said to have been the premises of Marazion and District Fire Brigade and the Goal.
It has 'Bank' over the front door, and the side window is marked 'Barclays Bank'.
It has a look of an 1890s building, with a strong French influence.
Over the main door is a sunken panel; in that space is mounted a Coat of Arms dated 1871.
It does not appear to be originally in that position, as the lower transom granite could indicate.
The arms show a set of three castles, in the form of the Marazion Seal.
When this Grant of Arms was given would be interesting to discover.

It would have to have been Granted by The Royal College of Arms.
The copper panel is signed in the lower right corner.
It looks as if it could be Perry Craft - another visit is needed.
If it is Perry Craft then the panel is not 1871,

more like 1891, the 1871 must refer to some other occasion.
There is a modern sign in granite on the left of the main door, to signify the Marazion Charter.
The sign removed to the right, presumably was that of the bank.
A panel immediately below that also appears to have been removed.
The architect was playing with the architecture and has achieved an interesting design, almost a French Chateaux.
Fire Brigades had steam powered pumps as of 1850, and were drawn by horse teams.
So, where was the equipment kept?
Where were the horses stabled?
Where was the exit when an emergency was underway?
Coal and wood would also have to be delivered, stored and loaded.
It's a Mystery.....

Well, Thank you and I have to say, thanks for the sunshine, my thanks to the architect and to the town council, as well as the builders, and the painters who have done such a good job of the red. My thanks to the people of Marazion and the visitors for keeping out of the picture. I especially thank the people that have so thoughtfully and gracefully potted the plants and cared for the flowers. I cannot omit to offer gratitude to the makers of the camera and the download software, as well as the graphics package to reduce the size to one that is manageable. Last but by no means least there is the website and her staff who work tirelessly to bring you these pictures.
