Marazion's Mystery

Marazion Town Hall
17th March 2009
The Arts and Crafts
Marazion Coat of Arms;
Over the main door is a sunken panel; in that space is mounted a Coat of Arms dated 1871.
The arms show a set of three castles, in the form of the Marazion Seal.
When this Grant of Arms was given would be interesting to discover.
The copper panel is signed in the lower right corner.
It looks as if it could be Percy Craft - another visit is needed.
If it is Percy Craft then the panel is not 1871, more like 1891.
Although the date refers to some other event.

Humble Apologies, that is the man, but my memory was only very vague, and I cannot quite make out the signature panel. It is still a curiosity as to why the panel is 1871. Thank you. ::15:

The Plot thickens. I can now see the signature is stamped TERRY ENGLISH; there is a number below which appears to be 1397. From my memory Terry English was a brilliant Armourer - his works were seen in their best in the film Excalibur. I seem to remember he had a Mead House in Hayle, where he exhibited his work. It therefore appears that this panel is not at all old. Unless anyone else can offer any information. ??

Do you think that Terry English might have had a hand in restoration of the panel? I echo what you say about his armour. (No point in being a sycophant if you re not going to flaunt it!)

Ooh you are awful ... but I like you ... It is quite possible that he worked on it. But why that number - perhaps 1st March 1997?
However, to my eyes it does not look as if it was here originally. It seems there was something else in the recess. I don t know when the Museum opens. The other thing is the helm looks modern . Mystery .....
