I never noticed before but this dooway is not symmetrical. The triangular tympanum ain't in the middle (as the actress said to Treeve!). Neither have I noticed that the words above it are missing. I'd have thought the bank might have replaced them or don't they think it worthwhile just to have them stolen again (if that's what happened before)?
It is an optical 'delusion', I have deliberately taken the photograph off centre to show depth of facade.
The lettering was a botch job when TSB were drawn into the business, very badly done all round. I know this section is 'only 1925' but with all the money sucked by the leeches, I would have expected a better job.
