Hugh Town, St Mary's c1890

around 1890-1900,
from a print in my cousin's family collection of photographs.
No photographer identified.
View from the rocks off Jackson's Hill (North of the Church).
The signal tower on The Garrison., then there is Hugh House and Star Castle.
Left again below the walls is The Town Hall; Town Beach is rather obvious,
I used to be able to walk out of my aunt's back yard straight on to that beach.
The Lady of The Isles is moored at the quayside. From 1904 she was based at Penzance and used as a RN cable ship.
The pier is that constructed 1838 by Augustus Smith, and extended in 1889.
