It was a combined effort, thank you; the forces of nature, sun, designers and builders of the square, the owners and their tireless efforts in the garden, the decorators of the building .... what s that? Not the Oscars? whoops ..........
 
Yes, it s a very beautiful area. Ever actually been inside any of the houses there?
 
I have, back in the seventies. My piano teacher moved there. Quite old-fashioned looking interior, basic amenities. Nowadays people throw money at the interiors of these houses, and they bear no resemblance to what was originally there. I m thinking ultra-modern kitchens and bathrooms, especially.
 
Ah, I think that s always a shame. Personally, I feel that if you choose to buy a period property, you have a responsibility to maintain and restore it, not gut it and modernise it. But I guess I understand why people do it, they want the best of both worlds - the old and the new.
 
I have been in one on the east side, very original and very cared for . Lovely house.
 
@PZM - Was your piano teacher Miss Salmon? My sister went to her in the eighties.
