A copy of the vessel Agnes of 1841, of the Isles of Scilly; built by Working Sail of Gweek.
Agnes is a Pilot Cutter, one of the finest, in fact the best of the cutters. The original Agnes was registered at St Agnes 1841; 40 x 13ft. Draft 7ft 5ins. 34 tons; Lengthened to 51.3 ft; 43 tons. Became owned by an ancestor of mine in 1894. 1896 altered to a ketch and was the last pilot to work out of Scilly. Because of rostering training, she was nicknamed 'Roster'. Apparently sailed The Atlantic, but primarily a coal vessel to bring coals from Bristol to Scilly, until 1902, when she was broken up on Tresco and used for fencing, as was the way. This new vessel was completed in 2003, is 46ft x 13ft 3 ins; 8ft 6in Draft; 26 tons.
