Newlyn Harbour Boundary Stone

In 1884 - 1886, The present harbour area was taken into the care of The Port of Newlyn Harbour Commissioners' hands, and the base formed at the specific requirements of The Admiralty to provide the Admiralty Boat House. Mr T Bolitho provided the funds (as a loan) and drive for the Port to have a new harbour perimeter to 'replace' the ancient one which could barely include 40 boats. There has been a port here since well before 1450 perhaps as early as 1000, long before any appeared at Penzance, involved with the trade with the Mediterranean and France. This post is one of two set at the Pier base, which were erected to define the extent of the Harbour Commissioners' Boundaries. Though undated, it is from about 1886. It has been removed for safekeeping.
If the posts are not be displayed in Newlyn, perhaps in or around Penlee Museum might be a good spot so that more people could see them?

Speaking of which, I remember there being an anchor outside at the Museum, sort of tucked away on grass, not on display. I think there's one, maybe two on the Tesco roundabout last time I walked by there. Anyone know if the anchor I mentioned here is one of them?

I think it's very important that such items are preserved as near as possible to their original locations; they form part of the history of places.

Update from 1st June, Andrew Munson besides being Harbourmaster
is now appointed Harbour Commissioner.
