From the Promenade, I calculate that as she was just on the horizon, she was 6.5 miles from shore. Unloaded she is high out of the water. I need to make some checks before giving details. It was too hazy to get the name.

You say this boat was ex-Cheryl of Ladram. Have you ever been to Ladram Bay near Sidmouth to the west in East Devon. It s a place that is famed for its great geological features of clumps of red sandstone left at sea where cliffs have been eroded. You had to get there at the right time of day to enjoy sun on the beach! I never heard of a girl called Cheryl who had connections there and of such merit that a ship was named after her! There certainly isn t a shipyard there but the ship seems to be the right colour for Ladram! ::15:

I saw Angel Emiel in 2007 as Cheryl of Ladram in Plymouth. I will get some info up on both ships later tonight.

Notes added above about the two vessels. Fishing Vessel Angel Emiel built 1980 and Cargo vessel Patricia Schulte built 2006.

Boats certainly change names frequently. I thought it was the other way round when you named the boats.

That is why there are IMO numbers and RSS numbers; whatever the names, the hull numbers remain the same. Port and Registration change with owners and time.
