The Abbey c1910, formerly simply Nr 3, Abbey Street; Built c1770, with 1825 alterations to the front; The street originally New Street Slip, shore access to New Street, named Abbey Street before 1841; Legend has it The Abbey got its name before 1825, from there having been two secluded prim and proper maidens living there. Rev Francis Gregory lived there, until 1834, when he became Vicar of Mullion; he died 1853 and his family returned to The Abbey; his wife was Maria Harris Bolitho, married 1835.
