Chirgwins 1890

Chirgwins, established 1737; Nr 7 and 8, Market Place was re-built c1885, with a Victorian shop front; There is a building at the bottom of The Terrace in the same manner as Chirgwins, a novel elevational treatment. Photo 1890. The second floor was an Oriental Tea Room, much frequented by the ladies of the town.
My uncle once had an old menu from Chirgwins, found under wallpaper in New Street! Wish I knew what happened to it.

I have inherited a mass of papers, but I know there are some treasures not there that I was shown as a child. I will be posting some of the documents later.
