The house next door, number 83, was where my grandmother lived!

I remember Mr.James used to phone and say I ve just bought one of those 12strings can you come in and tune it for me or banjo or uke. I agree shame it closed.

I remember James s music shop, Chyanstylus (across the road) and the fruit and veg shop down the road next door to Courts

Since the 60 s the bottom end of the town has seen a lot of changes, things like the one way system, the little pub where the surf shop was, the Chapel/Church where Wimpy is, Bennets gas shop on the left hand side, wI think it was Smiths book shop on the corner where the door of Club 2K now is. We keep being told it is progress ... to my mind progress should be forwards, not back; I bought my first King Crimson Album in James - it now hard to get anything that is not pushed through a mincer. I have to go online now to get the music that I want; the half decent music shop that was in the Wharf complex,changed hands and then only presented a tepid version of the shop it should have been, and now its another coffee shop with prices that beggar belief.

The other good one for sheet music was Mrs Pooley up the green market, I believe her daughter has revived it? I havent been in there.

I would like to see the inside of the public toilets in Albert Street. My recollection is a place of Victorian tiles, brass fittings and oak woodwork... a fine example of craft and porcelain. Do you remember the 2p slots on the door..... Excuse the pun but this coined the phrase spend a penny. It’s up for sale I do hope they at least allow us to take photos of the inside.

Mrs Pooley was a wonderful person; what she did not know about classical music simply was not worth knowing. She knew just where to get anything within a few days. Penwith Music Shop.

I would like to add that I didn t spend a un healthy amount of time at this toilet... It just left an impression on me....ok, I m just digging my self deeper in this aren t I?
