Birthday Card 1945

It was not until the mid 1950s that two page cards came in. Until then it was a Post Card, correspondence left, address right.

'12th October 1945;
Here's wishing you dear May
Many Happy Returns of the Day.
With Love from Bert xxxxxxxx'

Worth considering when you fork out £5 plus for a lush, plush, multi process ..... card

a simple card signed
was kept so dear
for me to find,
after many a year.

It comes from the heart
not from the pocket.

Old cards - excellent! I wonder if there would be a market for such today? I find the cards you get in shops now are all a bit soulless.

About what I am saying. Many are so smart, so plush, so expensive, all driven by commercialism. I do not believe there is a woman born that does not appreciate a token of Love and Care. The problem is that most 'blokes' cannot put what they feel into words, and leave it to 'Design a love poem Ltd' ... I used to enjoy writing a poem as well. Not exactly Wordsworth but I felt my words were well worth it. I have a few old greetings cards here.

For all special occasions, I make cards for Nancy, so they are all personal to her - well, to both of us. She has quite a collection now and the imagery and/or words also bear a reflection of what we were doing, or what made us smile at the time - so it's quite fun to go through them once in a blue moon as they always bring back good memories.
